How Does Age Affect Eyes

Our eyes change and evolve with age, and there are key times to think about how your eyes might be adjusting and developing.

Babies: Infants and young babies are naturally born with slightly blurry vision and develop different aspects of their vision over their first year of life. They can take time to learn things like focusing and using their vision to learn the new world around them. A baby’s first eye exam should be around 6 months of age, even if there are no apparent vision issues. It’s a great way to detect potential challenges early and to make sure your little one’s eye are equipped as they learn and grow.

Kids: Did you know 80% of your child’s learning is through vision? If your child is struggling in the classroom, they may be having an issue with their eyes. Make sure to take them in for an annual eye exam. There are fun frames that your kids will love, should they require eye wear!

Teens: Your high schooler may benefit from switching over to contact lenses if they are active in sports or other on the go activities. Although they may think their eyes are just fine, this is the time that nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism may develop, so it’s smart to schedule annual eye exams during those critical years. Teens are also becoming young adults and updating their glasses or switching to contact lenses may provide a little boost of confidence during that life transition.

How Can I Make A Same

Do you need to schedule an urgent, same-day appointment with Vision Care Specialists? This may be possible, because nowadays many people schedule appointments and then don’t show up for them. Many of the top eye specialists also may have online calendars to allow you to look up possible appointment times at a glance.

Spare slots and canceled appointments mean it could be easy to find for an âeye doctor near youâ in a matter of seconds.

But, you will need to be flexible. The best thing to do is to walk into Vision Care Specialists and just ask – they may be able to fit you in.

Or, place a call in the morning for the same day.

How Do I Know If Vision Care Specialists Takes Insurance

Whether Vision Care Specialists takes insurance depends on if theyâre an optometrist or an ophthalmologist.

Optometrists perform your regular eye exams and write prescriptions for glasses. These doctors will accept vision insurance. An ophthalmologist, on the other hand, is a medical doctor therefore, whether youâre covered depends on your standard medical insurance plan.

The best way to answer this question is to call Vision Care Specialists and ask them.

Who We Treat At The Department Of Pediatric Ophthalmology

We provide complete pediatric ophthalmology and pediatric optometry services for children and teens that cover a wide range of conditions, from the most common to the most complex. Our treatment includes everything from second opinions and low vision consultations to surgical care and treatment for vision affected by conditions such as brain tumors.

We provide diagnosis and management for many eye conditions, including:

Many of our doctors and specialists focus on one or more areas of expertise. Our pediatric cataract service, for example, has one of the highest volumes of pediatric cataract surgery in the country. This means we see more cases than most pediatric eye specialists and have more experience providing surgical care. We also have access to the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank and the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute , which is very important when considering cornea transplantation.

When eye disorders are the result of cancer or a tumor, we coordinate care with oncology experts within the hospital. Conditions like neurofibromatosis, including those with optic pathway gliomas, can cause visual disturbances related to brain tumors. Weve also created programs like the Pediatric Retinoblastoma Program to collaborate more efficiently with our colleagues from oncology in providing cutting-edge treatments. Other multidisciplinary programs and clinics that we have developed focus on pediatric uveitis, pediatric cornea and pediatric oculoplastics.

  • What are people saying about laser eye surgery/lasik in Highlands Ranch, CO?

This is a review for laser eye surgery/lasik in Highlands Ranch, CO:

“Had a great first experience here this week. They have 730am appointments which is convenient, and at that early hour it was easy to find parking right in front of the office. Eye exam was probably the best I’ve ever had, Dr. Marlatt was excellent, I really appreciated that he spent time making sure the script was right. I’m always so indecisive when it comes to which is better, 1 or 2 or 3 or 4, so stressful! : ) After my exam, the office staff was really helpful as I picked out glasses, another thing I struggle with. Definitely feel like this was the most thorough eye exam I’ve had in years.”

Why Choose Us For Pediatric Eye Care

Our ophthalmologists are board-certified and fellowship trained in pediatric ophthalmology . Diagnosing eye problems in children is not an easy task. Early detection and treatment of childhood eye disease can prevent permanent vision loss and disability, which is why it is important that children who are suspected of having a sight-threatening condition are seen by a pediatric eye care specialist.
