I recently had my one-year follow up and my vision is perfect. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and all the equipment is state of the art. Dr. Wiley performed my SMILE procedure and was so good I recommended my mom have him perform her cataract surgery. Also when I come in for follow-up appointments, I never have to wait more than a few minutes in the waiting room. I cant recommend this place highly enough!

Top-notch doctors, service, facility, staff, and treatment! Just 24hrs after Implantable Contact Lens surgery for both eyes my vision is 20/15! The results are better than I could have hoped for. My prescription was very high . I didnt think I had options outside of contacts and glasses. Not so Dr. Wiley & Dr. Augustine took care of everything. I would highly recommend the Drs. and Clear Choice Custom Lasik Center.

Benefit: Lasik Can Reduce Your Dependence On Glasses Or Contacts

If you have spent years relying on glasses or contact lenses, LASIK surgery can bring freedom. Contact lenses are expensive and can also irritate and dry your eyes after wearing them for many hours a day. Prescription glasses need to be updated every couple of years, which can be pricey. The necessity of wearing glasses can sometimes hold you back from activities like competitive sports and swimming. A one-time investment in LASIK can save you money in the long run and reduce your reliance on glasses and contacts.

Dr. Eippert utilizes only the latest laser technology for all aspects of LASIK surgery. His commitment to employing the most advanced and accurate laser technology is exemplified by the fact that he was the first eye surgeon in Cleveland and the second in Ohio to own a custom femtosecond laser for cataract removal surgery. This dedication to offering innovative technology also applies to his LASIK procedures.

To begin the LASIK procedure, Dr. Eippert employs the bladeless Intralase laser to create a flap in the cornea. He then gently lifts the flap to access the underlying corneal tissue. Next, the eye surgeon utilizes the Allegretto Wave excimer laser to re-contour the corneal tissue, correcting the refractive error that is causing nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism. Once Dr. Eippert is satisfied with the newly shaped cornea, he lays the corneal flap back down in its original position where it naturally re-bonds to the eye.

LASIK surgery is a quick and easy procedure. It takes about 15 minutes to treat both eyes, and patients of Dr. Eippert do not typically feel any pain during the LASIK procedure. They notice an improvement in their eyesight within one or two days, and many find that they no longer need to rely on clunky prescription glasses or slippery contact lenses to see clearly. Not to mention, more than 98 percent of patients achieve 20/20 vision following LASIK in Cleveland.

Are There Any Restrictions After Laser Vision Correction Surgery

It takes about two to four weeks for the eye to stabilize after laser vision correction surgery. Follow these tips to prevent injury or infection:

  • Do not rub your eyes for one week. Avoid aggressive eye rubbing even after one week. For the first three nights, wear the eye shield/goggles from your postoperative kit when you are sleeping.
  • Do not take a shower or wash your hair until the day after your surgery. Avoid getting soap, hairspray and other products in your eyes for one week.
  • Do not let tap water get in your eyes for one week.
  • Do not wear eye makeup for one week.
  • Do not get your hair colored or permed for 10 days.
  • Do not go swimming for 10 days.
  • Do not exercise for two days. Once you have resumed sports activities, wear eye protection for one month.Wear sunglasses when you go out in the sun for the first several months to protect your eyes from ultraviolet exposure, especially if you had PRK.

If you have any questions after your laser vision correction surgery or if you experience pain, sudden decrease in vision, red eye or discharge, please call us immediately at 216.445.8585.

Above all, enjoy your new freedom. The freedom to read your alarm clock without fumbling for your glasses. The freedom to exercise without worrying about your contact lenses. And the freedom to see clearly all day, every day.

Can Everyone Have Lasik

No, about 65% to 80% of patients are good LASIK candidates. Some practices will offer a second opinion on what good candidacy is, and will claim that 90% of people are great candidates, but we always err on the side of caution. We arent willing to perform LASIK on patients with contraindications just to make a quick buck, because we really do have our patients best interests in mind.

Cleveland Lasik Plastic Surgeons Have Seen More Demand During Pandemic

A picture of a surgery suite at the Lasik Vision Centers of Cleveland in Independence.

.CLEVELAND, Ohio — Jim Principi wasnt sure if people would want to get Lasik during a pandemic.

Principi is the director of operations and a professional optician at the Lasik Vision Centers of Cleveland in Independence, and he was concerned about the company reopening in May, right in the thick of the coronavirus scare.

I was thinking about doing some type of aggressive promotion to try to have people come in, and all of a sudden, the volume just hit us with a rush, Principi said. It was incredible, and it hasnt stopped.

The coronavirus has increased the demand for both vision and plastic surgeries, as people work from home.

During their third quarter, Lasik Vision Centers was up 50% for Lasik and Photorefractive keratectomy surgery, compared to 2019, Principi said. The company was up 119% for Lasik and PRK surgery in October compared to October 2019.

Lasik Vision Centers is not alone in its boost, though. ClearChoice Custom Lasik Center in Brecksville and Cleveland Clinics Cole Eye Institute have also seen more people want to get LASIK.

So why are more people choosing to get the elective surgery, which generally costs around $4,500, during a pandemic?

That question has a few answers, and one deals with the fact that people who wear glasses are tired of their glasses fogging up from wearing masks.

How Is Lasik Eye Surgery/prk Eye Surgery Performed

Bryan Roth, MD | Cleveland Clinic Ophthalmology

A lot of people are curious about the LASIK surgery process, and wonder what LASIK surgery is like. During LASIK, our femtosecond LASIK laser will be used to create a thin flap from the surface of the cornea. This laser takes the place of the microkeratome blade that is used in traditional LASIK. The flap is then lifted to expose the inner layer of the cornea. Once the flap is lifted the excimer laser is then used to treat this inner layer. The excimer is used to re-shape the underlying corneal tissue to correct any irregularities.

After LASIK/PRK surgery is complete, the corneal flap is set back into place. This flap will naturally bond to the treated cornea, eliminating the need for sutures. Natural pressure from the eyelid and other factors will help to hold the flap in place as healing occurs, minimizing discomfort.

The center of the cornea is now flattened, allowing light rays to be focused more precisely on the retina and images will be seen more sharply. Most patients will notice a dramatic improvement after their LASIK surgery. However, maximum improvement will occur over the next three to four weeks. Both antibiotic drops and steroid drops will be used for a period of two weeks following LASIK surgery to ensure the cornea is properly healing. Artificial tears will also be used abundantly to help keep the cornea smooth and moist during the healing period.

What Is Lasik Eye Surgery

LASIK is a non-invasive eye surgery using the technology of the excimer laser to reshape the cornea. LASIK uses a beam of cool light to reshape the top layer of the cornea so that images focus correctly on the retina. Prior to LASIK surgery, numerous tests will be performed on your eyes to determine the amount of correction needed. A computer, controlled by your LASIK eye surgeon, is used to precisely calculate the exact amount of cornea that needs to be removed for each persons individual eyes.

Benefit: There Is Little To No Pain During Or After Lasik

You may believe a common misconception that LASIK eye surgery is painful. In reality, there is very little pain, if any, involved during the procedure. Patients may experience some minor discomfort in the several days following a LASIK procedure, such as your eyes feeling scratchy or irritated or being sensitive to light, but that discomfort will quickly pass and can be soothed with eye drops.
